Coney Island, New York | 2010.  Initially, the idea to shoot the spire of the Parachute Jump was for my Nathan's commission but with them owning the rights to the original, I decided to re-shoot and these were the result.  They were shot from the opposite angle of the original but still told the story as I had envisioned.  Both will be available for sale as giclee (museum-quality canvas) @ www.yalegurney.com with my new online marketplace set to launch shortly.

Nathan's commission, 2009-2010.  Overlooked.  In my opinion, this should have been selected and featured with all chosen images that grace the walls of the Nathan's Famous corporate headquarters.  Something about the composition versus the color of the lights that I love.  This looks incredible when blown up large.  Shot this during one of my Coney Island night shoots - I was there to capture the Friday night fireworks that blast off in the background of the Wonder Wheel's colorful lights.  In fact, one of the fireworks images are hanging in Nathan's Chief Architect Don Schedler's office.

"Nathan's At Night"

During my year-long documentary shooting of Coney Island for Nathan's, I waited for the right night to get this image (and others).  I needed for it to rain and needed to show patience in waiting for it to stop so that the streets were still wet, creating the reflection of the neon lights.  Luckily, when I arrived, there was about a fifteen-minute interval between showers - I snapped away.

My good friend Will Petzel joined me on this night - I think he enjoyed himself.
